Throwing Clay: The Art of Making Pottery On The Wheel

My book Throwing Clay: The Art of Making Pottery On The Wheel is available now from most good book shops including Waterstones, Blackwell’s, Foyles and World of Books. Published by Herbert Press, the craft division of Bloomsbury, the book forms part of their fantastic New Ceramics series. With an emphasis on craftsmanship, Throwing Clay discusses my inspiration and philosophy, features inspiring interviews and demonstrates the specific techniques and materials required to make all of my best selling pieces of modern tableware – mugs, jugs and plates as well as soap dishes, berry bowls, vases and more complex forms such as teapots.

The book contains gorgeous photography by Rhona Snowden at Goodrest Studios, Kate Whitaker and Emma Lewis as well as my own words and pictures. It also features interviews with nine of my favourite potters including Anne Mette Hjortshoj, Fleen Doran, Frances Savage, Tim Lake, Jessica Mason, Julienne Ahn, Malo Atelier, Sara Delesie and Peter Montgomery.

I hope it will become your favourite workshop companion, gently covered in clay fingerprints as you reach for it time and time again.
