Kiln Hire
Kiln Hire
I offer a kiln hire and firing service for potters without a kiln to fire work to completion. Both bisque and glaze firing programmes are available in my large (200 Litre) and small (90 Litre) electric kilns. Please select the correct firing required at checkout.
Following your booking I will be in touch to arrange a suitable date with you. I will also send you a form asking all the relevant details such as type of clay, glaze and firing temperature required.

What you get
Access to a high quality, well maintained kiln.
Use of plentiful varied kiln furniture.
An experienced technician - most likely myself - will load and unload the kiln, programme the firing and monitor the kiln as it fires.
Please note that I will not fire anything that creates smoke: paper clay, clay with organic materials, newspaper etc. Nor will I fire raw glazed pots.
Bisque Firing
Please drop off your pots at the time and date arranged.
Any damp clay will not be allowed in the kiln as it will damage the elements. Please ensure your clay is thoroughly dry before you drop it off.
Glazing
Please use your own glazes and provide full information about them. This will greatly reduce the risk of damage to the kiln and help produce good results.
If after the bisque firing you require desk space to glaze your work in my studio - you can book it by the hour above. Please bring your own tools, materials and glazes.
It is essential to ensure the base of the work is glaze-free when in contact with the kiln shelf and has a 1cm clearance on all sides.
Please provide your own sacrificial clay slabs or tiles to fire under any hazardous pieces.
Collection of Works
I will let you know when your items are ready to collect.
Please bring bags or boxes for transportation when you collect your work.
I cannot hold work for a long time. Any works abandoned for more than 2 weeks after the agreed pick up time will be disposed of.
Damage to equipment
If your work causes any damage to the kiln or parts (shelves, elements, ceramic bricks, thermocouple etc.) you will be responsible for repair costs and/or the replacement of parts.
Care and responsibility disclaimer
I will take great care handling your work, but please be aware that Rebecca Proctor is not liable for any breakages, glaze mishaps or other potential issues that may arise while using my kilns for your ceramic work. As a user of my services, you assume responsibility for any associated risks.
Please get in touch if you have any questions.
